Palmento Costanzo

Mt. Etna (North slope)

Palmento Costanzo was founded in 2010 by the Costanzo family who purchased a handful of hectares on the northern region of the Etna, where survived a centuries-old, ungrafted vineyard, one of the few that survived the phylloxera epidemic at the beginning of the '900 which destroyed most of the vineyards in Europe. At the same time, the vineyard area was expanded with only native varieties that are historically suited to the volcanic territory.

The Costanzo’s restored also the ancient Palmento made from lava stone: a gem of rural engineering and a key component for production, undergoing a meticulous conservative restoration process where the technological integrations have been adapted in order to maintain the traditional production process without altering the space at hand.
