Sicily is the island of the sun, as an old motto says. So, is normal for people to stay in the streets and squares for longer time, strolling, chatting, having fun... What Sicilians do in the meantime? They eat! And, because Sicily has a very long tradition in street food and pastries and its specialties are so various as good, we can argue that they spend their time in the right way.
During our food tour, strolling through the typical, elegant, flower-filled streets of Taormina, surrounded by shops selling Sicilian crafts and luxury Italian brands, you can delight your palate with some samples of the best Sicilian delicacies. You will be astonished by their variety and the connection with religion, miths, history and fun stories…
We like to start our tour with an unmissable Sicilian tradition: a refreshing granita, a mixture similar to ice cream, prepared only with fresh fruit juice, sugar and water. Along the way, don't miss the famous cannolo (a crispy shell filled with fresh, sweet ricotta cheese) at the city's most famous pastry shop, while sipping a limoncello made with Sicilian lemon zest. Another stop is dedicated to Sicily's most iconic street food: the arancino, a crispy fried rice ball that can be filled with various fillings: meat ragù or pistachio cream or ham and béchamel sauce or... The final stop is to toast with a glass of wine and taste a selection of various excellent Sicilian cold cuts and cheeses OR at a pizzeria where you can create your own pizza with your own hands, choosing your favourite toppings...
